How to match your page to the query it should be cited for

Last updated:

When you give the scanner a target query, AI Search Score checks how well your page matches the question you want it cited for — whether the core terms appear in the title, H1, opening and body where they naturally belong.

Why this matters

Topical relevance is the single strongest factor in whether an engine cites your page for a given question. If you want to be cited for “gold coast airport transfer” but your title reads “Premium Travel Solutions,” the engine has nothing to connect your page to the query — so it cites someone clearer. The terms need to be present where they carry the most weight: the title, the H1, and the first paragraph. Think of it as telling the engine, in its own words, exactly what question this page answers.

How to fix it

Pick the one query this page should win — not five, one. Work those core terms naturally into the <title> tag, the H1, the opening sentence, and a few times through the body where they genuinely fit. Write the way a real person would phrase the question.

Critical: don’t stuff. Repeating “gold coast airport transfer cheap best airport transfer” past the point of natural reading is penalised, not rewarded — engines treat keyword stuffing as a spam signal. Natural placement beats raw density every time.

How to check it worked

Re-scan with that query in the optional field. “Topical relevance to query” should climb, and the coverage line — title / H1 / opening / body — should show hits across all four. Wherever it shows 0, that’s the spot to work the term in.
