How to add dateModified to your schema

Last updated:

AI Search Score checks that your structured data includes a dateModified — when the content was last updated.

Why this matters

dateModified is a core freshness signal. AI engines favour current content, and an honest, recent dateModified in your schema tells them the page is maintained. It works hand in hand with the visible <time> element and the 90-day freshness window.

How to fix it

Most SEO plugins and well-built themes add dateModified to page/post schema automatically, drawn from WordPress’s modified-date field — so updating the page genuinely updates the date. Confirm your schema includes it:

"dateModified": "2026-06-01"

If you hand-write schema, include dateModified and keep it honest — it should reflect your last real edit, updated automatically by the modified date rather than typed in by hand.

How to check it worked

Re-scan. “dateModified freshness signal in schema” should turn green. Confirm it reflects a genuine recent update, not a stale or hand-faked date.
