Entity resolution & identity

Last updated:

AI engines have to resolve who you are before they can cite you. A complete, single, consistent entity is the backbone of your brand presence. A thin or duplicated identity tells the engine it isn’t sure you exist — and uncertain entities don’t get recommended.

Why this matters

This is an L1 signal — we read it straight from your page. When your identity is scattered across mismatched profiles or missing key fields, engines can’t confidently tie everything together into one brand they can name.

How to improve it

  • Publish one canonical Organization or LocalBusiness with a stable @id — don’t scatter duplicates across pages.
  • Complete the entity: name, url, logo, telephone, and full postal address in schema.
  • Add a sameAs array linking your authoritative profiles — Google Business Profile, LinkedIn, industry directories, and a Wikidata entry if you have one.
  • Keep that identity identical across the site, your Google Business Profile, and your social accounts.

How to check it worked

Re-scan — Entity resolution should climb. Confirm name, url, logo, phone and address are all present and consistent.

An honest caveat

Completeness helps resolution; it doesn’t guarantee citation. A clean entity makes you knowable, not automatically recommended.
